Albion utility player Nathan Jones is poised to agree a new two-year contract.

Boss Peter Taylor revealed: "I think Nathan has as good as been agreed. We are waiting to get that signed."

Jones was recalled to the starting line-up for Monday's vital victory over Bristol City at Withdean.

The left-sided Welshman has made 85 appearances for Albion in the last two seasons since former manager Micky Adams signed him on a Bosman free transfer from Southend.

Taylor has given fresh one-year deals to a trio of youngsters: reserve team captain Shaun Wilkinson, injury-plagued striker Daniel Marney and goalkeeper Will Packham.

"Shaun has impressed me since I have been here," Taylor said. "He is a very aggressive player, but I think he is a good footballer as well.

"Danny has been very unlucky with injuries but when ever he has trained with us he has looked an exciting prospect and I think there is a chance Will Packham can make it."

Club captain Paul Rogers has already been awarded another year, but Simon Morgan's future is undecided.
