Sussex and Surrey have decided not to cancel their three-day friendly at Hove, starting on Wednesday.
Sussex are mourning the loss of all-rounder Umer Rashid who was drowned during the county's pre-season tour of Grenada last week, a fortnight after Surrey all-rounder Ben Hollioake was killed in a car crash in Australia.
Talks have been held between the counties and Sussex captain Chris Adams said: "Getting back to playing again is something both sides are going to find hard to do, but it is a step forward we will both have to make."
Sussex also play Surrey at The Oval in their opening Frizzell County Championship match of the season on April 19.
