Eastbourne Eagles were hit by a late blitz in last night's Elite League match at Wolverhampton.
The high-flying Sussex squad looked to be heading for their eighth win in nine matches when they led 37-29 with four heats to go.
But rival championship contenders Wolves turned the match on its head with a startling 5-1, 4-2, 5-1, 4-2 finish to run out 47-43 winners.
Their matchwinner was Peter Karlsson, who won three of the last four races to take his personal tally to 20 points from seven rides.
Karlsson's only defeat came in heat 11 at the hands of Mark Loram, who finished as Eagles' top scorer with 12 points.
It was a stunning comeback by the home side after Eagles had taken the lead with a 5-1 in heat eight by Toni Svab and David Norris.
That put the visitors ahead 25-23, and they went further in front with a 4-2 from Joe Screen and Savalas Clouting in the next.
When Eagles stretched their lead to eight points with another 5-1 from Stefan Andersson and Dean Barker in heat ten, it looked all over bar the shouting.
Loram and Svab both won two races, but after Loram had beaten Karlsson in heat 11 the wheels started to come off for Eastbourne.
Wolves brought in Karl-sson and former Eagle Paul Hurry as a double tactical in the next, and it paid off with a maximum over Barker and Svab, who went from first to last.
Karlsson got the better of Loram in heat 13. David Howe finished third with Screen falling.
The shocks continued for Eagles, with Hurry and Daniel Nermark coming from the back to beat Andersson and Svab in heat 14.
It meant Wolves were two points up going into the final heat, and with Karlsson in unstoppable mood there was no way back for Eastbourne.
Loram beat Hurry for second place, but Screen was left at the back as Wolves completed a re-markable fightback with another heat advantage.
Eagles must now pick themselves up for Thursday night's TV clash with Belle Vue at Arlington.
Wolves: Peter Karlsson 20, Paul Hurry 13, Daniel Nermark 6, David Howe 5, Jesper Jensen 2, Lee Dicken 1.
Eagles: Mark Loram 12, Toni Svab 7, Joe Screen 7, Stefan Andersson 6, Dean Barker 5, David Norris 3, Savalas Clouting 3.
