Bomb disposal experts have blown up two military shells dredged up in the Channel close to busy Newhaven port.
The shells were detonated underwater a mile from Seaford Head, where they were found by the dredger Arco Dee two miles from Newhaven.
They were transferred from the dredger to a small boat and then lowered into the water.
The Arco Dee returned to Newhaven port.
A spokesman for Solent Coastguard said: "There wasn't much to see.
"It was a controlled explosion that took place on the sea bed."
