I read with interest the letter from Michael Parker, (April 26) regarding his horn gramophone.
He commented it would not be possible to play it at home due to its excessive volume and having no means of controlling it.
To overcome this, I suggest he rolls up a sock and pushes it down the horn.
This will reduce the volume and was the method used years go, from which we get the expression we all know when we wish to admonish someone who is making excessive noise: "Put a sock in it."
