Perhaps the answer to E E Birch's question about why people do not wear roses on St George's Day (Letters, April 29) is the rose has been taken over by the Labour Party.
People should fly flags when they please. In Horsham, there were flags on the town hall, the council offices and a town centre pub, as well as individual ones.
Liz Solkhon missed the point when she suggested picking a nice summer day to celebrate St George's Day.
Traditionally, a saint's day commemorates his or her martyrdom or some event in their life. As to St Andrew being a "bonny Scot", according to records he was born in Bethesda in Galilee.
October provides more flag-flying days: Trafalgar Day (21) and Agincourt Day (25). As well as giving the politically-correct brigade a shock, it might also provide a history lesson.
