Brighton and Hove Albion supporters hoped to sell hundreds of copies of a CD called That's Zamora during the weekend celebrations for the championship team.
But the city council said it could not be done because big crowds were expected on the seafront and in Grand Avenue.
The council said it was acting on advice from the police who were worried about safety in controlling a crowd of that size.
But there was plenty of space and the fans were always going to be in jolly mood. The decision to ban a stall selling this CD seems small-minded and petty.
It has deprived many fans from enjoying the lyrics about their idol Bobby Zamora and also deprived charity Children in Need of several thousand pounds.
