I was fascinated by Michael Parker's letter (Letters, April 26) showing his His Master's Voice gramophone.
I, too, am interested in the older machines and have a couple.
I own the world's smallest record, which measures one-and-a-quarter inches in diameter. I know the Queen still has one in the doll's house at Windsor. I am led to believe the BBC has since lost its and, of course, as only 250 were issued in the Greater London area in 1924, almost all others are lost. I would have lost this one, I think, had we not moved to Brighton in 1934 and taken great care of it.
You can clearly see my disc is an HMV with the dog Nipper in the centre of it, peering into the horn.
