J and D Freeman (Letters, April 30) ask why it has to be Falmer for the Albion's stadium and not Waterhall or Newhaven, which might have been approved by now.
Brighton and Hove City Council previously ruled out Waterhall because it is on the undeveloped north side of the by-pass. Newhaven, outside Brighton's jurisdiction, would probably be vetoed by the Football League because it is way beyond the city limits. After all, it is Brighton and Hove Albion, not Newhaven Albion.
The planning applications submitted for the Falmer area, however, are for two possible sites within the city's boundaries.
