We enjoyed the holiday and wonderful celebrations to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
It was marvellous to see how millions of people joined in, enjoying themselves.
It is a great pity Brighton and Hove City Council did so little for this event.
All around the country, celebrations took place. More than 2,000 beacons, were lit across the land, from Lands End to John O' Groats but not in Brighton and Hove.
We have the beacon on Hove promenade but no effort was made to light it because "the money could be better spent elsewhere".
We could not have flags at the Town Hall because a couple of seagulls decided otherwise.
How pathetic. Over at neighbouring Worthing, grants of £200 could be obtained for street parties, whereas we cannot afford any celebrations here. Yet we are hoping to be on of the leading cities in the land.
We have been told how deeply in debt we are and how we are to make savings but, in 50 years' time when folks look back on the council's efforts for this auspicious occasion, it will show a sorry and indifferent picture.
There have been so many wise people saying the Royal Family is pass and is not needed and that we should have an elected president. How wrong they have been shown to be.
