I am a sales rep for a national company and have to travel all over the South East taking product samples from customer to customer.
I travel between 30,000 and 40,000 miles a year and think I must have either visited or passed through every major town in the region.
I need to have my samples with me. I cannot sell something unless my customers can see it and examine it.
My samples are the "tools of my trade" and they are really heavy. I usually have to lug around three cases - one in each hand and one under my arm.
When I am taking big orders, I have to return to the car to collect more sample cases because I cannot carry everything at once.
I practically always park legally and have had very few tickets in my 20-year career on the road.
I spend a small fortune on parking and would love to have a £3 waiver, as do the builders of Brighton and Hove, that lets me park pretty much wherever I like.
I think I deserve one just as much as they do.
There are thousands of people like me who just accept nothing is free in life and get on with it. It's typical that the one group that whinges is the least deserving of free parking of anyone.
