An inquest is to be held on a 73-year-old patient who fell from a window of a third-floor hospital annexe.
Ronald Tomlin, of The Drive, Hove, had been a patient at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and was convalescing at The Patient Hotel opposite the hospital in Abbey Road.
He was found dead on the ground outside the hotel at 7.45am on Saturday.
Motorcyclist friends had been helping to prepare his flat for his return.
A police spokesman said: "The coroner has been informed of the circumstances surrounding the death."
