As Her Majesty's representative in Worthing, I would like to say how proud I am of the way in which residents of the town celebrated the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
From Saturday, June 1 - when my wife and I joined vast numbers of excited children, all in home-made crowns and red, white and blue outfits, parading along the seafront to the music of the Adjutant General's Band - to the Tuesday evening firework display at Pond Lane, we were greeted by enthusiastic, friendly residents.
We attended a total of 20 incredibly varied events including tea, street and dance parties, concerts and jubilee services and would like to thank everyone for their kind invitations and warm welcomes.
This was Worthing working together as a community at its very best.
Resounding congratulations to all those who worked so hard to make this event such a success.
-Eric Mardell, The Mayor of Worthing
