Is it not about time whoever is paid to maintain our street lights actually did just that?
The photo above is of a street light in Hollingdean Terrace, Brighton, which has not worked properly for more than nine months.
Last year, it was completely out of action for many months, despite many calls to have it fixed.
At least four visits were made by lighting engineers before it eventually worked - but it was never properly repaired and has been permanently on since January.
Since then, it seems most of the other lights in Hollingdean Terrace have come out in sympathy and stay on permanently too.
I trust that Brighton and Hove City Council will be seeking compensation from its street light contractors and that taxpayers will not be paying for this unnecessary lighting extravaganza.
