I am very disappointed by the decision of Brighton and Hove City Council's schools subcommittee to continue to operate the new Goldstone Primary School on two sites (The Argus, June 11).
I was privileged to serve as a governor of both Goldstone Junior School and Knoll Infants' School for almost 20 years, chairing the governing bodies for long periods.
Both schools had conscientious governors, caring and dedicated teachers and other staff and, with supportive families and friends, produced efficient schools with happy children - a valuable asset to the local community.
I hope all councillors, irrespective of party, will take urgent steps to end all this uncertainty and ensure the new school does not operate on split sites.
Many people feel badly let down. After all, it is their children who are affected and they are much more important than money or party politics.
