After my letter being printed (Letters, June 6), I received a phone call from a gentleman saying he fully supported what I said. He also said, as a retired railway worker who regularly drove on the London-to-Brighton run, he knew some years ago concrete footings were built at Waterhall for a station that was to serve the commuters and residents.
I do not know if it is true but he was adamant it was so. Does anybody else know of these plans or have they been kept out of the debate about the cost of a station or halt being built there so that Falmer comes out in a favourable light as regards cost? Perhaps some readers could write to confirm or deny the existence of the footings?
