James Kirtley is hoping for a double celebration tomorrow when he leads Sussex in the C&G Trophy fourth round tie against Leicestershire at Grace Road.
Kirtley, who has taken 45 wickets this season, is tipped to be included in the England squad for the NatWest Series against India and Sri Lanka which is due to be announced before the start of play.
Sussex's acting captain will then attempt to guide his side into the quarter-finals against a Leicestershire side without run-machine Michael Bevan who is currently playing for Australia.
Kirtley impressed in the unofficial England trial against Sri Lanka last week and followed it up with a match haul of 10-90 in the Championship win over Yorkshire.
He said: "I would obviously love another opportunity to play for England, it should be the ambition of everyone to play for their country and I'm no different. I feel as if I'm in good rhythm at the moment and hopefully there will be good news for me on Wednesday."
Sussex head to Grace Road full of confidence according to coach Peter Moores. The county have been boosted by last week's innings triumph at Headingley.
Moores said: "The difference between this game and the B&H quarter-final against Warwickshire which we lost is that we are going into it definitely on the up."
