Chris Adams says he will be back on the frontline in time to help Sussex put their faltering National League campaign back on course.
The skipper has not yet declared himself fit for a comeback in the Championship tussle with Yorkshire at Arundel, beginning on Wednesday, as he recovers from a knee injury.
Fitness tests in the next 36 hours will decide whether Adams plays in that four-day contest but he revealed he would definitely lead his side out when Middlesex visit the same venue for 45-over action on Sunday.
Sussex need a lift in the one-day league after yesterday's comprehensive six-wicket defeat to Division Two rivals Surrey at The Oval.
Adams said: "As of now I am not match fit. I've had a slight reaction to the work I have been doing which is normal, given the circumstances.
"We will have to wait and see how things go. If I feel I am fit and ready on Wednesday morning I will play but I will definitely be back for the Middlesex game."
Yesterday's setback means Sussex have just one win to their name in National League action this season.
Former Sussex paceman Ed Giddins was the star of the show with career-best limited overs figures of 5-20 and he believes the result has given Surrey an edge for their forthcoming C & G Trophy trip to Hove.
Giddins said: "I didn't bowl any better than in other matches but I've just had the luck. I'm sure winning so convincingly gives us the psychological edge for the C & G Trophy."
