I cannot believe Brighton and Hove City Council is even considering the mutilation of our downlands when there is a perfectly good brownfield site for the new Seagulls stadium at the old Shoreham cement works. Aerial photographs of this site in The Argus Business (June 18) clearly show where the new stadium should be built.
The present owners are committed to improving public transport and roads around that area, the local council has stated it to be an eyesore and wishes to see it redeveloped.
Surely this has to be the place for a new stadium with hotels, restaurants and the possibility of small industrial units.
Why destroy greenfield sites, disrupting thousands of residents living along the coast trying to use already congested roads when there is a brilliant site on the other side of the city ready and waiting? Come on, Brighton and Hove City Council, get together with Hargreaves (the owners) and sort this mess out.
