In response to Jonathan Sheppard (Letters, June 21), it would be interesting to hear what Councillor Brian Oxley has to say on the privatisation of council housing, an issue which is being delayed until after the local elections.
Defend Council Housing contacted him some months ago asking him to oppose privatisation, which will undoubtedly worsen the housing crisis. We were told he had "no opinion" on the matter. Perhaps he has changed his mind but my advice to people concerned about housing and homelessness is to vote only for candidates who have the guts to say the Labour policy on this is wrong. To date, the small minority who have done so include several Labour councillors but no Tories.
