The family of missing mother Stella Robinson today told a police Press conference her disappearance was "totally out of the blue."
Nursery nurse Mrs Robinson, 50, was last seen two weeks ago when she left home with no money and no change of clothes.
A huge search has been launched across East Sussex as police grow more and more concerned for her safety.
At the Press conference today her family said it was utterly out of character for Mrs Robinson, of Clive Vale, Hastings, to take off without warning.
They said she may have been worried after being diagnosed with breast cancer and after having gone through six months of chemotherapy treatment.
Her son, Ben, 25, said she could not face gruelling radiotherapy treatment after coming back from a week-long holiday in France.
Ben, a cook who lives in France, said: "This is totally out of the blue. She was really happy.
"She got up at 7.30am to watch the World Cup. She had a chat with her husband Chris about the game, had a cup of tea and then went to wash her hair.
"They were talking about what they were going to do with the rest of the day.
"Dad went up to have a shower and when he came back down she had gone."
Hundreds of posters with details of Mrs Robinson, who works at a children's nursery, have gone up across Hastings and St Leonards.
Her family have also been handing out posters in Brighton, Lewes and Battersea, London, where she was born.
Her sister, Gill Cahillane, said: "I just want a phone call to know that she is safe.
"We really haven't got a clue about where she has gone. We have wracked our brains but have come to the end of the line."
