A faulty signal at a train station led to delays for commuters yesterday.
One coastal service was partly cancelled and others were delayed after a signal failed on platform three at Brighton station.
Trains running to and from Brighton on the routes between Seaford and Littlehampton were affected by the problem.
A spokesperson for South Central trains said: "The signal at the end of platform three broke at about 6am.
"There was a train stuck on the platform and other services were affected until around 10.30am."
Railtrack confirmed there had been a "technical signalling problem" at the station but downplayed the incident.
A spokesperson said one train had to be re-routed but insisted the signal fault only caused minor delays for passengers.
