City councillors will take part in a campaign next month to raise awareness of global warming.
The councillors are backing Brighton-based company C City, which wants people and organisations to take practical measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Officers at Brighton and Hove City Council will now look at council-owned buildings to investigate climate balancing, which involves reducing energy use.
The campaign will coincide with the build up to the Earth Summit, which takes place in South Africa at the end of August.
Councillor Joyce Edmond Smith told colleagues the council's ninelives campaign, which was featured in The Argus, will be used at the summit as a practical example of how people can live more ecologically-friendly lives.
