I live in Saltdean and at 8.45 last Wednesday evening, while sitting in the armchair, I noticed a bright light in the sky to the north-west.
We see many aircraft coming in and out of Gatwick so I thought it was either the sun reflecting off an aeroplane (but it was at the wrong angle and too large for the apparent distance) or the aeroplane's landing lights (which would have been too bright for a sunny evening and, again, probably too large).
I looked away for a second, looked back and it had completely gone.
It was a clear sky and I have good eyesight but there was no doubt that whatever was causing the light had vanished.
There was no cloud and the object was too high above the skyline to have disappeared behind it.
It was too close for me not to be able to see the plane after the lights or reflection had ceased.
There may be 101 logical reasons for this event to have happened and, indeed, I am very sceptical about UFOs, crop circles and the rest of it but there is no doubt this took place.
