Bas Zuiderent and Tony Cottey both fired 80 to lead Sussex 2nd XI to a satisfying six-wicket win over Surrey in the one-day Trophy.
The pair, who featured in a stand of 144 in the victory over Essex on Monday, put on 141 for the third wicket this time as Sussex reached their target of 203 with more than six overs in hand at Hove. Zuiderent had stroked 11 fours off 112 balls when he was bowled by spinner Rupesh Amin and Cottey holed out at cover off James Benning with his side needing only three to win.
Cottey cracked five fours and three sixes in his 98-ball knock, after Phil Sampson claimed the early wickets of Will House (0) and Dominic Clapp (25).
Sussex earlier bowled out Surrey for 202 in 49.5 overs after they chose to bat with 16-year-old offspinner Ollie Rayner impressing by taking 2-18 in his ten overs.
Rayner, who plays for Eastbourne, did not bowl a wide or no-ball and also never conceded a boundary.
Ben Scott made most headway for Surrey by hitting 52 off 94 balls with six fours before Mark Robinson had him caught at cover.
Chris Murtagh was run out for 42 and he shared in the highest stand of the innings by adding 44 for the fifth wicket with Sampson who made 24.
Sussex, who have won three of seven Trophy games, play their final one-day fixture against the MCC Young Professionals at Hove today.
