Albion chief executive Martin Perry has quashed once and for all persistent speculation linking Arsenal stalwart Tony Adams with the vacant manager's post.

Perry revealed: "He is certainly not under consideration. Tony Adams has no connection with the Brighton job."

A national Sunday newspaper claimed Albion chairman Dick Knight had discussed the job with Adams but that he is more likely to take charge of Watford.

It is the latest in a series of reports which have linked Adams with the Seagulls and fuelled speculation among fans.

Perry, however, has insisted all along the former England captain is not in the frame.

Meanwhile, Perry has given a cautious welcome to the Nationwide League's new TV deal with Sky.

"It's good news and all clubs, particularly in the First Division, will benefit but it is a substantial reduction on the original deal which collapsed with ITV Digital, from £105 million a year down to £20 million a year.

"The three clubs that went up, ourselves, Reading and Stoke, are fortunate in that we were not committed to player contracts which reflected the original deal.

"But in the negotiations which are going on with our players that significant reduction will have to be reflected."

Gary Hart, having signed a three-year contract, is expected to resume full training today after injury. The players are working this week at Ardingly College.
