When the Albion won their second consecutive championship in April, I was so proud.

After supporting them for 32 years, they had finally achieved more than I could ever have wished for.

Peter Taylor soon resigned, but no problem. The vibes were still positive as we went into the close season.

Dick Knight assured us there would be an improved budget for buying new players for next season and the ITV Digital fiasco would not be a factor since the club had never budgeted for this money.

Now, here we are, ten weeks later and the vibes are all negative.

No new manager, hardly any players and Martin Perry talking as if we had just been relegated to the Conference League.

He has referred to the job being difficult to fill as "there is no glory in it" and suggested the club will struggle for at least the next two seasons.

Hardly the way to prepare for a new season in a higher division.

Imagine the vibes this is sending out to the likes of Zamora and Cullip - would you want to stay at this club?

The only players who seem prepared to sign new contracts are those who may struggle at the higher level.

And couldn't the approach to Bristol's Danny Wilson have been made two months ago? The Bosman deadline of June 30 has gone by, with no activity in the transfer market.

Consequently, all the best of the free transfers, such as Greenacre and Owusu, have gone and it appears we will have to give the job to Bob Booker or Martin Hinshelwood almost by default.

It is hardly the best way of boosting their confidence. Just give one of them the job now so they have at least half a chance.

The Albion have achieved what they have in the past couple of years by superb player management and the will to win from a fantastic set of players.

If Dick Knight and Martin Perry continue in their present mode, everything will be destroyed and our stay in Division One will be short-lived.

Come on, guys, sort it out.
