Pro-am Gym kick-boxer Susie Parsons won the BNMA Southern Area welterweight title after beating reigning champion Fabi Craven-Farwell.

Parsons, 25, who won the British IKF Amateur Championships gold medal this summer, overcame the Bournemouth-based Brazilian at the seaside town's Pavilion on a unanimous points decision to clinch the belt.

The trainee nurse from Portslade won over five two-minute rounds to delight her trainer Steve Gosden.

Gosden said: "She has fought three times for a national title and has now won on the third time of asking.

"The girl she was up against was unbeaten, defending her title and also in her own backyard.

"It was always going to be tough but Susie was well ahead after three rounds and just held herself together over the last two to take it."

On the same show, Tom Minter of Jeepai Kick Boxing, Worthing, lost a points decision to Simon Coldwell as he fought for the English super-middleweight title.
