A successful racing team has turned to a Sussex engineering firm to develop its winning vehicle.

Harlow Motorsport is the latest sports car team to benefit from Shorehambased Ricardo's technology and expertise.

The firm has been recruited by Harlow to provide fresh technical insights into sports car engineering and enhance the team's competitive potential in GT racing.

Developments in the body, chassis and engine, cooling and electronic systems, are being be engineered into the Harlow Motorsport-Ricardo Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The resulting technology will be offered to other teams.

The body, chassis and systems engineering were developed after working with the GT team over the past three seasons.

Director of Ricardo vehicle engineering Paul Markwick said: "Rather than just relying on racetrack experience we can apply sophisticated computer-aided techniques.

"This will aid Harlow's deeper understanding of the technical changes required to enhance performance."

Ricardo's link with UK-based Harlow Motorsport follows the racing team's first-ever international GT victory at Vallelunga in Italy last September. The two companies then negotiated an agreement for their joint assault on this year's season.

The team has experienced drivers, including last year's European Le Mans Series drivers champions, Robin Liddell and Mike Youles, who is also responsible for motorsport sales at Ricardo.
