Albion top scorer Bobby Zamora has had minor surgery to his groin and will miss the next two weeks of pre-season training.

The England Under-21 striker, whose goals helped to shoot the Seagulls into Division One last season, was injured while on international duty in Switzerland over the summer.

Assistant manager Bob Booker expects him to be fully fit by the time the club begins the new campaign at Burnley on August 10.

He said: "It's nothing serious. It's not a major operation - it's just a minor operation with a scope.

"It means a couple of weeks' rest, but he can do with the rest after the busy summer he's had."
