With any luck, English Heritage's warnings about the imminent danger facing the West Pier will wake up a few people.
While endless Nimbyist arguments about the enabling development rage, people are losing sight of the key fact: Time to save the pier from collapse is rapidly running out.
The West Pier is a unique and irreplaceable part of the heritage of both Britain and Brighton.
Those who seek to delay and obstruct the restoration plans should not forget that.
They, and not the West Pier Trust - which has worked so hard to make restoration even possible - will have a lot of questions to answer if this amazing structure is lost for ever.
