As a regular shopper in the St James's Street and Kemp Town area of Brighton and Hove, I would like to congratulate the St James's Action Group and participating traders in the area for setting up the "Safe Shop" initiative.
While CCTV cameras and police presence have brought increased security, it is encouraging that citizens and visitors will be able to shop in relatively safety, knowing that, if provoked or intimidated, the street traders will be on hand to take appropriate action.
Let's hope, with further improvements proposed, the "guardian angels" will not be called upon too often.
