How nice to read such a positive article about St James's Street, Brighton (The Argus, July 10).
A great many people have been working very hard for several years and their efforts are paying off.
Five years ago, it would have been impossible to contemplate producing a tourist brochure for the area but, now, we have one about to be published, full of details about interesting shops, bars, restaurants, galleries, hotels and cafes, with charming pictures showing off the varied architecture.
The whole area is on the up. We know we still have problems (but so does most of central Brighton) and our community safety committee co-operates with Chief Inspector Stuart Harrison and his team to continue the work of curbing criminal and anti-social elements.
We appreciate the recent work done by the police and hope for continued improvement.
If you haven't been to St James's Street for a while, do come to see it for yourselves. And not just St James's Street - carry on across Rock Gardens.
There are yet more interesting shops, galleries and places to eat and drink right through to Kemp Town Village.
Those of us who live in the area are very proud of our continuing transformation.
