There are loads of must-see jazz gigs this week.

Scots saxophonist Bobby Wellins is at the Hanbury ballroom tonight, while trumpeter Andy Woon is at The Hen And Chicken in Southwater, Horsham.

Tomorrow, vocalist Rachel Bundy takes her own quartet to The Hare And Hounds in Worthing and Komedia has three nights of rootsy fare, beginning with tomorrow's Kangaroo Moon concert.

The Aussie foursome's mix of Celtic trance and Aboriginal dance has made them guaranteed festival favourites around the globe.

On Wednesday, trumpeter Byron Wallen (pictured) leads the band Indigo. Byron's last gig in Brighton was with the Courtney Pine On Track extravaganza at the Dome and, previously, with the Cleveland Watkiss band.

Further afield, he has clocked up gigs with George Benson, Talvin Singh, Manu Dibango, Incognito, David Murray and Chaka Khan.

His musical explorations for his own label have taken him to Uganda and Morocco, where he has worked with traditional musicians.

Alongside him on baritone and soprano is Tony Kofi, a prodigiously-talented saxophonist who has worked with the Jazz Warriors, Jazz Jamaica, Roy Ayers, US3 and Digable Planets. They are joined by Larry Bartley, bass, and Tom Skinner, drums.

On Thursday, Komedia has the ever-growing Brighton Agitators, now a 14-piece soul, ska and afrobeat extravaganza, plus soul DJ Rob.

Elsewhere, Wednesday's Harlequin jazz night finds the Terry Seabrook Trio with special guest Geoff Simkins on alto sax and Thursday has the residency of the popular Mark Edwards Trio plus guests at the Prince Albert.
