A key cause of the Fatboy Slim beach over-crowding (The Argus, July 15) was a helicopter which blocked out the music to anyone east of the Old Ship Hotel.
Its intrusion gave the unfortunate impression that the show was less of a community event than a massive commercialised ego-trip for the DJ.
And, as Voice of The Argus pointed out on Monday, where does this leave the 2008 Capital of Culture application, which hangs on the boasts of Brighton and Hove City Council to service this kind of spectacle?
Surely Councillor Lythell must now cut her losses - our losses, however merited - and drop this bid, which I doubt can succeed in the wake of Sunday and Monday's negative media coverage.
