Thank you, City of Brighton and Hove, for coping with the unexpectedly large number of visitors on the beach.
Thank you, visitors, for not causing too much trouble and being generally well-behaved.
I don't blame them for the tons of rubbish left on the beach.
What do you with the two cans of cool Coke you have just drunk when all the rubbish bins are full and overflowing? Put them in your pocket?
Thank you to the authorities for clearing and bagging the tons of rubbish so the beach was almost ready for the Sunday-morning visitors.
Thank you to the police and the first-aiders, who managed to cope with the crowds.
Thank you to the beach traders and those on the pier - for keeping calm in the rush and re-stocking when possible - and the restaurants, many of whom sold out of everything, and to lovely lady who squeezes fresh oranges on the promenade who wore herself out and did not appear on Sunday.
Thank you to the entertainments organisers, you put Brighton on the map as a fun city.
