A week after Fatboy Slim's monster beach party, DJs will be spinning their discs again.

Fatboy, otherwise known as dance DJ Norman Cook, brought Brighton to a standstill when 250,000 turned up to his free beach party last weekend.

But the chaotic scenes are unlikely to be repeated when talented DJs from Hangleton put on a show in their local park on Saturday.

The free music event, being dubbed Party In Our Park, takes place in Hangleton Park, Harmsworth Crescent, from 3pm to 10pm.

There will be performances from three local bands and an hour-long show by magician The Great Velcro.

Simon Osbourne, of the Hangleton and Knoll Project, said the party had been organised by young people on the Hangleton Estate.

He said: "It will be their first festival and they hope it will develop into an annual event.

"It is open to everyone and the young people hope it will build bridges between themselves and the older generation.

"In recognition of their efforts, the Scarman Trust has given them a Can Do award to help finance the event."
