New Albion manager Martin Hinshelwood said he was satisfied with last night's unconvincing 1-0 win at Sutton United.

Albion registered their second pre-season friendly victory in two days over non-League opposition and Hinshelwood shrugged off concerns about the performance.

Sutton, who lost 4-0 to Micky Adams' Leicester on Tuesday, more than matched their illustrious visitors and limited Albion to a handful of chances.

Hinshelwood, appointed on Monday as Peter Taylor's successor, changed the whole team at half-time before Steve Melton scored the winner early in the second half.

Hinshelwood said: "It is another 45 minutes for us and that is the main thing. I am pleased with their efforts but a little bit disappointed with the first half.

"They worked hard enough but we didn't keep the ball as well as I'd have liked us to have done.

"I thought we did that better in the second half and that's the main thing. It was enough to win us the match and keep things ticking over.

"We had more kids on in the second half and they are more enthusiastic. The pros are enthusiastic too but they might be a little more tired. We have worked them hard and they are feeling it at the moment."

Trialist Bradley Allen again started for Albion in his second match and Hinshelwood admitted he was trying to bring in more players.

The Albion boss has received plenty of offers from agents eager to fix up their players at Withdean.

Hinshelwood added: "We are looking at players all the time and agents are talking to us.

"Some are calling me up and talking to me as though I am their long- lost brother from years ago.

"They have a job to do but I won't be rushed because I want to give everyone here a chance. That's why we are trying people in different areas."

Injured Gary Hart (broken leg) and Bobby Zamora (groin) are both on course to be fit for the First Division curtain-raiser on August 10 at Burnley.

Keeper Will Packham, who started the match at Sutton, turned his ankle and is a doubt for Albion's next friendly at Crawley tomorrow at the Broadfield Stadium (3pm).
