The tourism and entertainment industry is to set up a forum to represent its interests in the wake of the Fatboy Slim show last weekend.
People involved in Brighton and Hove's leisure industry said lack of consultation about the beach party had prompted them to form the new body.
They said there were already a number of single issue organisations but none which bridged the whole tourism, entertainment and leisure sector.
Thirteen groups, among them individual traders and larger groups, were represented at a meeting called to discuss the initiative yesterday at The Fringe bar/restaurant in Kensington Gardens.
Owner Jonathan Goldsmith said: "We all felt there was a need to come together. For example, not all the seafront bars and restaurants were consulted about Saturday.
"These are the things we want to prevent so there is a focal point for the Brighton entertainment community."
Kate Johnson, of the C-Side pub chain, said such a forum should have been set up a long time ago.
An open meeting will be held at Brighton Racecourse on August 1 at 11am, for any organisations interested in joining and setting up the forum.
