We read with some amusement the stories of refuse collections being disrupted by one-day strikes.
We live in a block of 11 flats with a central rubbish point and ours has only been collected once in the past six weeks.
That was a specially organised Saturday morning collection following almost a week of daily phone calls to the council and repeated promises that the collection would either be made "today" or "tomorrow".
On one memorable occasion, we were told we could not speak to the manager as he was out picking up our trash as we spoke.
Of course, when we arrived home, it was still there.
