Bullets which were probably relics from the Second World War have been found on a building site.
Builder Michael Veal was working on an extension to a house in Mile Oak Gardens, Portslade, when he dug up four wartime bullets.
He handed them over to North Portslade councillor Bob Carden at his home in Oakdene Crescent.
Coun Carden said: "I made a call to the police and they collected them.
"The bullets were a bit corroded and the detective sergeant who called to take them away found them interesting.
"Many Canadian soldiers were billeted around Portslade during the war and the bullets were probably relics of this era.
"This is a change from the more mundane problems like cracked paving."
