Christopher Gould (Letters, July 19) reinforced to what extent Britain has become addicted to the (mis)use of the motor-car.
His statement "Buses have their use for people who are too young to drive, are unfit through physical or mental infirmity or cannot afford a car" sums up his ignorance of those of us who have the sense to avoid the stress of car parking, fines and car-congested roads.
Many who take the bus, walk or cycle already own a vehicle and should be applauded for not adding more unnecessary car journeys to our choked roads.
Mr Gould, isn't it time we smelt the roses instead of your exhaust fumes?
