The Argus (July 25) accurately highlighted the ridiculous situation for cyclists at Brighton station.
When the front of the station was pedestrianised, many of us told Railtrack it had the ideal opportunity to provide a great deal of cycle parking without hindering pedestrian access.
Even though the current cycle area is located inconveniently at the back of the station and you have to walk your bike there before returning to the front to buy your ticket, the number of cyclists using the station is increasing.
I often catch the train to London after the morning rush hour and there are usually no secure bike spaces left.
What is needed is provision at the front of the station and a cycle lane through the taxi drop-off and collection area to make the rear cycle area more accessible.
These small measures would cost very little and would be a small beginning in the railways starting to reassure cyclists they are not seen, at best, as an inconvenience.
