Bobby Zamora is being lined up for his return to the Albion front line.
The prolific hitman will start for the Seagulls at Bournemouth next Saturday as they close in on their long-awaited Division One return.
Zamora has been taking things relatively easy in pre-season as he recovers from a minor groin operation and his efforts with England under-21s at the end of the Division Two title campaign.
His return is another huge boost for Albion boss Martin Hinshelwood following Gary Hart's successful return to the side in the last two friendlies.
Hinshelwood said: "Bobby is dong fine. We will be looking to build him up next week and he will start at Bournemouth."
Before that the Seagulls visit Cheltenham on Tuesday and are at Leyton Orient this afternoon.
Former Charlton and Portsmouth goalkeeper Andy Petterson keeps goal at Brisbane Road as a short term stand-in for Michel Kuipers and Will Packham, both of whom have minor injuries.
Petterson is currently without a club but Hinshelwood has revealed free agents are not top of his list as he looks for new signings.
Seagulls fans are still waiting to see what reinforcements the manager brings in ahead of the Nationwide League campaign.
More players than ever are facing the scrapheap as teams throughout the country tighten their belts and reduce staffing levels.
Hinshelwood has already taken Bradley Allen on an unsuccessful week's trial after the former QPR striker was told his present club Grimsby could not afford to keep him.
Now he has revealed the men he wants to take on board are currently on the books of other clubs.
He said: "We know what we want and who we want although we are aware we need to have other ideas in case those don't come off.
"The players we want to bring in are already at clubs. The problem is whether those clubs are prepared to let them go.
"We need to keep pestering them a little bit. There are certainly one or two players we fancy."
Fans heading to Leyton Orient today could get the chance to see what central defender Marijan Kovacevic has to offer.
The former Hamburg and Duisburg stopper was recommended to Hinshelwood and his assistant Bob Booker by Seagulls chairman Dick Knight.
He did not receive international clearance in time to play against Gravesend.
Hinshelwood missed that 1-1 draw, which ended Seagulls' winning start to pre-season, as he watched Portsmouth's many out-of-favour former first teamers in action at Farnborough.
