The award of two stars to The Royal Sussex County Hospital in this round of government star ratings results (July 25), is encouraging news for the management, staff and patients.
There are still areas of concern, especially the long wait for A & E treatment.
With many emergencies coming into the department in any one day, there will always be delays as you cannot know what unforeseen incidents are going to take place.
Any emergency cases coming into the department will be seen straight away, which will cause delays to non-urgent patients.
The waiting time for cancer patients to see a consultant must be shortened.
Even if the hospital had been awarded three stars, there would still be room for improvement in all areas and departments.
As the hospital received no stars in last year's round, this proves the performance of the hospital has greatly improved.
With the management and the staff continuing to work together, a three-star rating will be achievable - hopefully next year.
