The Breakdance presentation on the Howie Green Design web site is full of handy hints and tips on how to get dirty on the dance floor, using everything from an Up-Rock to a Windmill.
The site says there are many different versions of the history behind breakdancing going back to 1969.
In the Seventies, urban youth adopted dance moves from a variety of different sources and breakdancing and its counterpart electric boogie flourished along with the growth of hip-hop culture.
The dance reached its climax in popularity in 1984, when it appeared in several major films. After this, it seemed to disappear and only in the past few years has breakdancing returned, appearing in numerous music videos and shows.
The site is dedicated to making the dance fun and easy to learn, with animations of the Moonwalk, much loved by Michael Jackson, and the Handglide. An information section contains advice for beginners, such as the best music, originality, equipment and exercising.
Whether you fancy your chances on the dance floor or prefer to watch others have fun, this is a site worth breaking your routine for.
