What a golden day yesterday was for 15-year-old Sussex schoolgirl Charlotte Kerwood.
She only took up the sport of shooting seriously three years ago and began the double trap clay pigeon competition within the last six months.
Now she has won a gold medal for the event in the Commonwealth Games' shooting events at Bisley.
What is more, she has been presented to the Earl and Countess of Wessex, who arrived at the range just after her success.
Now, she faces another stern test. At Walden Park School in East Sussex she will be taking her GCSEs.
However tough the exams will be, she will always have the consolation of being one of England's youngest gold medallists.
