David Lee scored both goals as an Albion XI overcame Withdean 2000 2-0 in a friendly at Woodside Road, Worthing last night.
The former Hull man, one of only two non-youth products in Albion's squad of 16, converted from close range after Dan Beck volleyed back Danny Marney's deep cross from the right.
That gave Albion a 29th-minute lead and Lee put the result beyond doubt with a curling 25-yard free kick two minutes from time.
Lee created chances for Beck and Dean Hammond who were foiled by former Burgess Hill keeper Richard Waters.
Adam Hinshelwood was left unmarked and beat Waters with a header from a Lee corner but Justin Simmons cleared off the goal line, then Lee curled just over from a free kick.
Marney volleyed into the side-netting from Lee's cross, but it was not all one-way traffic.
Will Packham did well to keep out a Sam Francis effort and Dominic Shepherd crashed a shot onto the bar.
Packham thwarted Roy Pook seconds after the restart and Lee blazed wastefully over from the lively Marney's inviting right-wing cross.
Albion introduced trainees Chris Breach, Darren Budd and Chris Greatwich with 20 minutes remaining. Breach, 16, looked accomplished after replacing Dan Harding at left-back.
