Brighton is the third coolest place in Britain behind London and Manchester, according to a poll of 18 to 30-year-olds.
With the increasing number of celebrities moving to the city and its array of bars, restaurants and nightlife, the young really think Brighton and Hove is the place to be.
London was regarded as the coolest place to live in Britain followed by Manchester, Brighton, and then Edinburgh.
In Europe the coolest cities were Paris, Barcelona, Ibiza, and then Prague.
London received less than one per cent of the votes cast in assessing the coolest places in Europe by the 292 polled.
Italy was considered the coolest country with Iceland, England and Spain joint second. Least cool countries were Germany and France.
The assessment of what is cool was made by NFO Worldgroup on behalf of the Superbrands organisation, an independent authority on branding.
When it comes to personalities David Beckham was voted the coolest person with Kylie Minogue the coolest music personality ahead of Madonna.
Of the personalities with links with Brighton London mayor Ken Livingstone, who has a weekend home near Brighton station, was voted the third coolest politician behind Mo Mowlem and Tony Blair.
Brighton glamour model Jordan came second in the least cool personality of the moment category behind Victoria Beckham.
Michael Knob, chairman of Superbrands, said: "The nature of cool is always a fickle thing but it can make the difference between success and failure for many brands, people and places."
