The killer of eight-year-old Sarah Payne could be moved to another high-security jail following a knife attack.
Roy Whiting, jailed for life for abducting and murdering Sarah in West Sussex, was slashed across the face on a prison landing.
A "lifer" at Wakefield jail has been questioned by detectives following the attack and a file has been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Whiting was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, for stitches.
